Living in a foreign country can sometimes be difficult when it comes to finding local information. That’s where we come in.
We’ve been approached numerous times with enquiries about where to volunteer and send donations to. In the past, stories of corruption have made people a bit hesitant to trust local charity organisations.
But, do your research and there will be plenty in most major cities that are both reputable and transparent with their donations.
Roundabout is a social enterprise headed by volunteers. They provide a free service connecting those who wish to give, be that monetary or otherwise, to those in need. Started in 2008, they were the first charity store in mainland China. They now give support to 48 charitable organisations in the Beijing area and many more throughout China, Inner Mongolia, and Mongolia.
Roundabout welcomes anyone to drop off literally anything at their warehouse store/thrift store in Shunyi. Clothing should be clean and toys or appliances should be in good working condition. Other than that, they can find a place for anything in there.
